I’ve been in a bit of a funk this week so I reached for an Abby Jimenez book I had not read yet. I was pretty sure I would find some quirky characters and humour along with a more serious subject. I was right!

This is the story of Kristen and Josh. They are a couple who are meant to be together but Kristen has legit reasons to hold him at arm’s length. And, sometimes a little closer than arm’s length. I cheer for them to work out their relationship. But Kristen is very stubborn. There are times when I want to throttle her!

Of course, there’s always a pet involved. This time it’s Stuntman Mike, a tiny Yorkie who only likes certain people.

Abbey Jimenez’s books are comfort books. Like comfort food. I always know what I’ll get. There will be some laugh-out-loud moments, maybe a few tears and a good storyline. Amongst the laughs and quirkiness, there is always a serious undertone. And, sometimes it’s deeper than an undertone. This one did not disappoint. And, I look forward to the next one.

I loved the Author’s Notes at the end of the book. The Notes gave credibility to much of the story.

And, of course, there might have been a few tears. Perhaps sad tears, perhaps happy tears.
