Scarlett, a junior in high school, wants to be a fashion designer one day. She wants to go to FIT and design fashion that will one day end up in Vogue. One morning, she sneaks into the theater department’s costume shop and tries on a dress. What she didn’t except was to come face to face with Nathaniel Wilder, a new student who has taken the theater department by storm. The one thing Scarlett needs to learn to be the fashion designer she wants to be, is to use a sewing machine. Nathaniel encouraged Scarlett to learn in the theater department; the drama teacher helps Scarlett and Scarlett gets closer to Nathaniel. It’s a win-win situation. Something terrible happens to Scarlett’s friend, Macie, and it causes both Macie and Nathaniel to pull away from Scarlett. But Scarlett is strong, and determined, and she will get through whatever is going on and live her dreams, whether or not her relationships come apart.

This is a very sweet young adult romance book. It brought me back to my high school days when just a mere conversation with someone that you find cute makes you all of a sudden develop a crush. Or when there’s a simply misunderstanding and people rush to judgments about what they think you did or didn’t do. Shaffir really hit the nail on the head, as if she was just in high school! This was a slow burn kind of romance, but I do wish there was a little more romance to it. The characters were well developed so that I knew their personalities well. The ending is a bit of a shocker for me, something I didn’t see coming. I wanted to be able to talk to the characters at the end, and give them advice. This book is perfect book to be made into a movie! I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes young adult romance.
