“There was something both beautiful and terrifying about isolation. It made you feel important and insignificant at the same time.”

Grace Evans needed a vacation. She has a busy life in New York and wanted some down time. She books an Airbnb on a ranch in Wyoming. When she arrives, the owner, Calvin Wells greets her and she is pleasantly surprised that he is handsome. Unfortunately, being in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming, there is no cell service. Grace also learns that there is a missing woman, and she gets the feeling that something isn’t right at the ranch. Even so, Grace and Calvin begin to get close but as it nears her time to leave, things start to go wrong.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. The problem with books that are super hyped up is that most of the time, I don’t like the book. That is what happened here. Grace arrives and the author wants us to believe that there is a romance brewing between Grace and Calvin. I never felt the chemistry between the two. I didn’t believe that they were into each other, and I was highly suspicious. When I learned that there was no Wi-Fi, I immediately wrote own that this is a huge red flag, and kind of predicable as to what is going to happen. Honestly, it didn’t even feel like a thriller until MUCH later in the book – so I guess you could call it a slow burn. Also, Calvin was too much upon her arrival – if I went to an Airbnb like that and the owner wouldn’t leave me alone, I’d get out of there! I do realize that a lot of people loved this book and that just goes to show books resonate with some people and not with others. I was disappointed in this book since I was so excited to read it. BUT, if you like a slow burn, romantic suspense, then you’d enjoy this book! Like I said, tons of people loved it. Maybe you will too.
