I really enjoy Ms Patrick’s books…..they are fun reads but with some substance. They all leave me smiling at the end. This is a nice light read with a few life lessons thrown in.

The women in the Carter family believe that the women in the family were cursed to have failed relationships. Our main character, Carla, is determined to either prove that it is not true or to find out the source of the curse. The quest takes her to Spain, Portugal, Paris and Sardinia. We meet some interesting characters along the way.

While I don’t agree with some of the decisions Carla makes, it was an interesting and revealing journey. The was some magic realism involved (fortune teller with crystal ball, Tarot cards), so I had to suspend my own beliefs a little.

It was quick and entertaining, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as her earlier books. Still, I look forward to the next book.
