This is one of those rare books that promises to be thrilling and addictive and actually delivers. I was sucked into this one right away and the short chapters made it easy to say “just one more” until the book was finished in a single sitting. I loved the format of dual points of view and the two timelines of now and then. Sally Hepworth excels at creating and maintaining a high level of suspense and writes with a cinematic style that I found so compelling it is undeniable that this book is difficult to put down, once started.

Hepworth is the Queen of domestic suspense and I would read anything she writes. I would read a menu or a real estate contract if she was behind it, and I suspect they would be very well done. She has a keen insight and humour that elevates moments within books, as well as an interesting way of playing with time and what characters know. Her body of work is impressive, and I hope she keeps cranking out books at an impressive clip because she is a favourite of mine and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the Advance Readers Copy.
