Book Summary:
Every writer has a story. Some are deadlier than others.
Aspiring author Graye Templeton will do anything to escape the horrific childhood crime that haunts her. After a life lived in shadows, she’s accepted a new job as protégé to Laura West, influential book blogger and wife of an acclaimed novelist. Laura’s connections could make Graye’s publishing dreams a reality. But there’s more to Laura than meets the eye.
Behind the veneer of a charmed life, Laura’s marriage is collapsing. Her once-lauded husband is descending into alcoholism and ruin and bringing Laura nearer to the edge.
As the two women form a bond that seems meant to be, long-buried secrets claw their way into the present, and the line between friendship and obsession begins to blur, forcing each to decide where her loyalties lie. Running from the past is a dangerous game, and the loser could end up dead.
My Review:
This is exactly the kind of thriller that I love to read! Here is a summary of my experience with this book:
I love that this starts out sweet and innocent. I think I could be best friends with Graye.
Ok, here comes some darker elements. It’s starting to get good. I think I’ve got a handle on what’s going to happen.
Oh man, I’ve read past bedtime. I must go to bed or I’ll be good for nothing tomorrow.
It’s lunchtime – 30 minutes to read. Yes! Wait, what just happened? Oh my god, I have to go back to work! No! No, no, no!
Ok guys, I brought dinner home. Make sure you clean up after yourselves. I’ve got some important work to do, so tell your Dad if you need anything.
Ok, back to the story. Yep, ok. I see where we are going now. I thought it was going to be the other way, but I get it now. Ok, wait. Wait a minute. Wait. A. Minute.
Let me clean these glasses and think about that for a second.. Where is my ponytail holder? Why is it so hot in here?
Oh my gosh!
No, no, I can’t help you right now, go find your Dad.
I just need 30 more minutes! I have to find out how it ends.
Just 10 more minutes!
Oh man! I did not see that coming! Whew!
That was an excellent book and now I’m exhausted.
Please do yourself a favor and pick up this great thriller. It simply sneaks up on you.
