The Perfect Marriage
Jeneva Rose
Psychological Thriller
Husband strays and when his lover is murdered, he becomes the main suspect. Successful lawyer wife decides to defend struggling writer husband.
This book has all the elements needed to grab me from the start:
- A good first sentence- “Did he love her?”
- Believable characters, and not so many that I lose track;
- Twists and turns, but not so many that I get confused;
- An ending I DO NOT see coming.
Jeneva Rose did it. Boom. Grabbed.
Add in a colorful cast of characters with their own agendas and you have the perfect recipe for The Perfect Marriage.
One of the best things about this book is that EVERYONE could be the killer. I honestly did not know from one chapter to the next at whom I was pointing a finger.
Was it Adam, the cheating husband, who was having a steamy affair with the victim, Kelly?
Was it Adam’s wife Sarah?
Jesse, the creepy stalker?
Anne, Sarah’s assistant?
There were so many twists and turns throughout this book but somehow the author managed to keep everything organized enough that I followed along smoothly through the story.
The ending? Did NOT see that one coming. The author ended the story in such a way that it did not leave the reader guessing. It didn’t just end; we were allowed to see into the future and the affects of what happened.
So, so good.
The only thing I would have liked to have seen would have been the author taking some of the secondary characters and building out their stories. Or, this could be an opportunity for future books with these characters? We can only hope!
