The People We Meet on Vacation

I was in need of a good escape…something funny and endearing…something that would occasionally take my breath away. And this book provided exactly what I was looking for. Witty banter, easy to connect with characters, and plenty of opportunities to sigh with contentment. Emily Henry is at her best, and I enjoyed every minute of vacation I spent with Poppy and Alex.

Alex and Poppy… they are likable, genuine, multi-faceted, and easy to cheer for. They are complete opposites, yet I found pieces of myself in each of them. I love that when Poppy can’t quite put into words how she feels, she says something completely offhand like, ā€œYou’re so tall.ā€ And Alex just seems to know what’s in her heart. *Sigh*

In the midst of enticing vacation jaunts, Henry reminds us that home isn’t always a place. Home is often the person/people with whom you feel most yourself and fully loved.

Oh friends…you won’t be disappointed by this one. It’s a perfect beach or pool companion. Ā And if you can’t manage to sneak off for a little getaway, this book will be your perfect escape. Ā Add it to your summer reading list and enjoy a mini holiday alongside Poppy and Alex.
