“When we care about someone, they deserve the benefit of the doubt. We have to consider not only what they did but also why they did it. Intent matters.”
I love these authors! Anna Green married Liam “West” Weston in order to get family housing at school; they were only married in name. She thought they divorced when school ended for both of them, but she got the biggest surprise 3 years later when he showed up on her doorstep and informed her that they were still married and he needed a favor. He wants his inheritance, but the catch is he has to be married and be married for 5 years. His sister is getting married on a private island and now West needs Anna to attend with him. They don’t know each other, but they have to convince everyone they are a loving couple so that he can get his inheritance. But are they just coupling for show, or does it result in more?
Authors Christina Lauren write some of the best romantic comedies, and this one does not disappoint. I absolutely LOVE Anna. She is feisty and authentically herself. I mean, she does have to change a little bit in order to play the part in front of West’s family, so she buys fancy clothes but doesn’t get rid of her pink hair. She is also a very genuine person. The more that she gets to know West, the more caring and protective she is over him. She also takes care of her ill father. This is the type of person everyone should be friends with.
The authors did a great job of making the reader grow to love West and even eventually feel bad for him. He’s a little cold and standoffish at first, but as we read on, we get to see his warm side. The relationship between them doesn’t feel rushed even though all of this takes place in just a few days.
The cast of characters is also great – did I love every single one of them? No. But it’s written that way. This book was just *chef’s kiss.*
Rolé @ Hooked By That Book
I loved this one too and Christina Lauren is pretty much an auto-read for me at this point.
