“This is why I didn’t want to talk about my past. My emotions get too heavy to hold.”

Nicole “Nic” Monroe isn’t at the best place in her life. She lives in a crappy apartment, can’t drive because of a DWI, and works a dead end job. Seven years ago her sister went missing without a trace, and it’s likely her sister isn’t alive anymore. The night that Kasey went missing, her car was found with the driver’s side door open, but all of her things left there. Another girl went missing the same way just weeks prior. But there was so little to go on, the cases went cold. Now Nic teams up with Jenna, the other girls’ sister, to try to find out what happened to their sisters.

This was a great book – much better than All Good People Here. While I did enjoy that book, this book exemplified the growth of this author. Nic had such raw emotions in this book, and they are certainly palpable. It was easy to see why she struggled so hard with where she was in her life. Her mother was gone and her father was just not present. He couldn’t accept reality. When Jenna, Jules’ sister, comes into Nic’s life to help find out what happened to their sisters, Nic finds herself eventually drawn to Jenna. She has found a friend, almost a sister. Something that she hasn’t had in 7 years.

The layers of this mystery/thriller were well done. The steps that these girls took were very methodical and believable. They also included the police and told the police what they were doing, which I very much appreciated. Now to the juicy stuff… which I won’t tell! Haha! The twists in the book!! I didn’t see the coming (which was very different from the first book!) I was so happy that I didn’t see them coming. I had no idea that the book was going to end the way that it did. I was here for all of it.

This is out now, so check it out!
