This is one of the most unique books I have read. I’m not sure how to classify it. Ghost story? Rom-Com? Magical realism? Sci-fi? Chick Lit? Fairytale? I guess it’s a little bit of everything. And, maybe it isn’t even unique to others, but it is to me.

The main character, Delphie (a solid introvert), dies accidentally. But she is given a chance to return to earth for 10 days and complete a mission. If she is successful, she will be able to remain alive. I have to suspend my beliefs for this premise and go with it.

This is when the fun starts. She is determined to complete her mission but gets thwarted at every turn. Despite her difficulties, I can’t help but cheer her on. She fears that time will run out. But, this mission is totally turning her life around. It’s fun to watch her personality emerge.

After I became used to the odd premise of the story, I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are lots of interesting characters. There are fun situations. There’s humour. I love Delphie’s character. Her backstory reveals why she is an introvert.

I can totally see this as a movie. I’m not up to date on today’s popular young actors but Iโ€™m sure there are a few that would be a good fit for roles in the movie.

It is a light, fun read with serious undertones. I found it the perfect antidote to all the headlines these days. Some might find it a little bit corny. But a little bit corny sometimes fits into our lives at the right times. A true โ€œfeel goodโ€ story.
