As far as Thrillers go, I’d say this was a solid 4 star read for me. It had a solid storyline, a bit of supernatural/horror events throughout, creepiness and a good mystery to solve.
The were no perfect characters, they all had some kind of fault. That fits nicely into a thriller scenario. Even a female assassin-type character is worked into the story, which is not something you see very often. So kudos for that!
The reason I would rate this as a 4 and not a 5 is that it has very strong similarities or almost takes a theme right out of the book of a Stephen King novel. I won’t say which one it is as it will give the whole plot line away and I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. But, as soon as you know – you know. It’s a great plot line, don’t get me wrong, but if you’re going to use something so similar to someone else’s idea, you need to be at least as good, it not better. This fell a little flat for me in comparison.
You know what they say: If you come for the King (Stephen), you best not miss! 😊
It’s no comparison to King but standing on it’s own merits, a solid 4 in my book.
