About the Book
Chloe is serving a life sentence. In her own home.
Ever since the horrific day her mother died, Chloeâs life has been anything but normal â more like a carefully constructed prison. Her father hasnât let her go to school, have friends or leave the house alone.
As she grows up, Chloe begins to question the motives behind her dadâs obsessive control.
What would happen if she broke one of his many rules?
And what exactly is he hiding under the overgrown grass in the back garden?
When new neighbors arrive next door, they trigger a chain of events that causes Chloe to suspect her fatherâs motives are far darker than she knew.
Now she faces the terrifying consequences of defying the man who controls her every waking moment.
Will she risk everything to win her freedom or will her fatherâs dark secrets keep her captive forever?
My Review
This book was a roller coaster ride of thrills! It was a ride that I didnât want to get off either. It is fast paced, and keeps you turning pages. There were so many shocking twists in this book that I didnât see coming. There were scenes where I held my breath, I couldnât believe what was happening and I couldnât wait to see how things were going to play out. It was great! Itâs been a while since a psychological thriller captivated me as much as this book did.
Itâs hard not to questionâs the dadâs intentions. Just like itâs hard not to feel bad for Chloe. So sheltered that she didnât even know what the internet was! Itâs hard not to think â why didnât she just run away? But, when this life is all youâve known, it becomes easy to see why she stayed.
The scenes between Chloe and her dad were perfect. Harrow created so much tension between the two that it was palpable.
The end of the book was fantastic. It started with a twist that I didnât see coming, once again, and an ending that I didnât see coming. But Iâm glad it ended the way that it did. I like when I read a book and it leaves me fulfilled.
This really was great, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes psychological thrillers.
