What a book! I’m not sure what I just finished reading. It was trashy, it was a page turner, it was a train wreck. In my mind it could have been called Real Housewives of Nantucket. But, I couldn’t stop reading it!

Internet influencer, Hollis decides to have a girls’ weekend, a Five Star Weekend by inviting 4 friends from 4 different phases of her life. A recipe for disaster and jealousy. Some of the women did not know each other, the ones that did had a “history”. There were a lot of backstories to keep things moving and interesting. And some shocking revelations. Lots of over the top drama!

The narration is almost like a background commentary. A gossipy/snide type of commentary. For this story, it totally works.

The food descriptions are incredible. I was hoping for recipes at the end.

The only part that I did not enjoy was a lot of name dropping regarding designer clothing and home accessories. And the very detailed description of every single guest room in the house got to be a little tedious. As did the restaurant descriptions. I suppose it was meant to fit in with Hollis being an influencer on social media.

This is a perfect beach book. A fast and entertaining read. My annual summer guilty pleasure.
