Just about a year ago, I read The Business Trip by this same author. I really enjoyed the fast pace and the twists. That prompted me to pick up this new one.
This book follows the same pattern: multiple layers, different viewpoints, many characters. But everything and everybody has the same focal point. Faith, the meteorologist at the local TV station who has been found murdered. Sounds confusing but it’s not really. The storyline is not linear, it jumps back and forth to fill in holes of parts that have previously been told.
Honestly, for a very long time, I had no idea where this was heading. I thought I might have figured it out around the 60% mark. I came close in a tiny aspect but there were so many more levels that my mind is still reeling.
This is one of the most convoluted, twisty and demonic thrillers I have read in a long time. I marvel at the mind that comes up with this and manages to keep it straight to put it all down on paper.
Perfect vacation read, with short chapters and a quick pace. Entertaining and mind boggling, all at the same time.
