This story was a great read especially for the spooky season. If you like psychological thrillers with plenty of twists and turns then “The Dead House” is the perfect book. This book is centered on an investigation of the “Inferno of Elmbridge High” that claimed the lives of 3 students and a disappearance of another, Carly Johnson. Who was Carly and how and why did she disappear. While investigators searched through the scene they find a diary belonging to a Kaitlyn. When asked about Kaitlyn, no one seems to know who this Kaitlyn is and claimed there was never a “Kaitlyn” at their school.

There is a reason “Kaitlyn” isn’t known, it is because she Carly’s alter ego. In the story, the reader can tell that Carly is out during the day, but at night Kaitlyn is in control. What happened the night of the inferno and where is Carly, and who exactly is this alter ego. This book kept me awake all night because I wanted to know what happened. I was really intrigued with the layout of the book. It wasn’t formatted like how other novels are, but this booked added psychiatric notes/reports, witness testimonials and more. These extra documents made the book even more intriguing to read. The author expedited the plot well, she added lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. I will definitely read another book of hers!
