This book was EVERYTHING! Oh lordie, I fell for Callum and felt compassion for the couple. Then I felt my heart wrenched from my body and joked back alive just to read all these twists in the end. It felt like The Voice from the Stone mixed with Crimson Peak and the Gothic romance was just sublime. The Cruel Dark deserves every award in its future.
Can we just talk about how descriptive the grounds of Willowfield and the spookiness of the mansion? I felt like I was there or in a Victorian Gothic romance movie. I did not expect this much of an impact on me but wow! I loved it! The twist of the groundskeeper and his sister had me going!
