I kept seeing Kiersten Modglin’s name everywhere, so when I saw my library had an audiobook download of The Arrangement, I thought I’d give it a try. And I must admit that George Newbern narrating it didn’t hurt. I love listening to his narration. Sarah Molly-Christensen narrates the wife and also does a great job.
Ainsley and Peter’s marriage is in a slump, so they make an arrangement to date other people one night a week, to try and help fix their marriage. She creates rules that each week it must be someone new and they never discuss the dates.
Now I’m not married, but it seems odd to me that dating others will somehow bring them closer together, but if they both agree…. I was drawn into the plot right from the start. The chapters alternate between the couple, so you get to know things the other partner doesn’t.
The author does a great job of sprinkling you with surprises all the way through the book. Some are small and some are whoppers, but what you think you know is ever changing, I really think she did a good job with these twists. Some appeared out of nowhere for me. I don’t want to give away too much since the spoilers start early in the book. Since I’ve only read one of her books, I’m not sure if reading one will help you pick up on the twists in her other books, but I will definitely try another. And she has many to choose from.
If you want a quick, entertaining read filled with twists and turns almost right from the start, I’d pick up The Arrangement.
