Because I am laid up at the moment, I chose this book expecting something nice and fluffy, not too deep. Something that wouldn’t take a lot of concentration. At times it was a bit fluffy but it was so much more. Such a pleasant surprise.

Ali is a woman at a crossroads in her life. Her mother (with whom she was very close) passed away, her husband is divorcing her and Ali has no self-worth. She cannot seem to find the steam to push herself forward.

She decides that a summer romance, with a finite ending, might be the catalyst she needs. Technically, I guess it was predictable. But the journey was fun and the characters were all very relatable and likeable. There was humour, interspersed throughout. But there was also lots of self-reflection. There was a good balance.

It is a fast and entertaining read. I didn’t find any dull moments. It falls into my category of “fluff with substance”. I am happy with the ending, I am glad I chose it.
