Hollow’s Edge used to be the ideal neighborhood to live in. Think everyone knows everyone. Everyone looks out for each other. Holidays, birthdays, graduations and other big events are celebrated together. It’s located next to the local college so most people even end up working together. Think suburban middle class, probably has an HOA that people love to hate. It was a tight knit community where everyone looked out for one another… was being the key word. Until the Truett’s end up dead and one of residents is the prime suspects.
A year and half after the murders Ruby Fletcher is released and she’s returned to the scene of the crime and she has vengeance on her mind. Once again Hollow’s Edge returns to being on edge. Who can be trusted and then the big EVENT happens!
I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone so I won’t go any further but wow I really enjoyed this book. There are far too many characters to go in depth on everyone so I’ll focus on Ruby and Harper. Harper came off as so naïve. She wanted to see the best in everyone. She didn’t quite stand her ground on anything and wasn’t assertive in any scenario she put herself in. There were so many situations I just wanted to hug her and protect her at all cost and also slap some common sense into her and tell her to open her eyes. Ruby, I hated everything about her character. Whether or not she was innocent to begin with was beside the point. She was blamed because of her own choices. She wanted to make everyone miserable and got off on causing chaos. She enjoyed drama and stirring the pot. 0/10.
Overall, I highly recommend this book. The first half is a little slow in the world building but without it the rest of the book just wouldn’t make sense and the rest of the book flies by. This was my first book by this author and I will definitely be going back and reading more of her books!
