If you like superhero/villain stories with a twist, do yourself a favor and pick up Starter Villain. This book is surprising, delightful, and comical in equal measure. Plus, there’s a cat (several, in fact) and a supervillain business. What else could you possibly ask for?

Consider this: a blend of supervillain enterprises, cats, dolphins, and, to top it off, a substitute teacher taking the reins of it all. The result? Utterly enjoyable chaos, especially when a shared goal is overthrowing multinational corporations, aka other supervillains.

Ironically, what captivated me the most in this book were the myriad side details and elements. The core plot is undeniably entertaining, but the intricacies elevate the reading experience. Of course, the twists play their part in making it all the more engaging. Starter Villain isn’t your run-of-the-mill superhero/villain narrative – it’s an exceptional and superior experience.
