This was a fun read for me. It is a cozy mystery that follows the main female character Maddie and her cat Trixie. Maddie runs a small coffee shop out of a truck with her best friend, and they are enjoying the being their own bosses, suddenly Maddie gets alerted of a murder regarding one of her regulars. We then follow Maddie and her cat Trixie as they try to piece together an unexpected puzzle. I really enjoyed reading this book, it was a quick read but an enjoyable read. What I love about this book is the coziness it radiates as I continued to get sucked into the story with every sentence. The story did not include unnecessary details or long descriptions of certain events. The author wrote just enough detail to help the reader imagine the scenes that were playing out. I was looking for a book that would be my “get away from reality” card, as well as a book with a light subject, this was that book. It had enough twists and turns that will keep the reader on their toes without having the gore or explicit details. I could not put this book down, the author did a wonderful job writing the story and giving her characters’ different personalities. The author also did a wonderful job with “showing” the characters’ emotions and actions through the writing. My favorite character is Trixie the cat companion to Maddie, the author showed Trixie’s personality perfectly. Trixie had some sassiness when the scenes only had her and Maddie in them. I smiled and laughed while reading, and this read was the perfect read to help with silencing reality for a moment. I cannot wait to continue the series.
