Another remarkable, well written, fantasy of the year. I truly do not know where to begin. This book follows twins Jin and Shura, their trusty fur companion Feng, and an outsider that they befriended, Wallace. The book started with a bang, as the company runs into demons. As the story progresses you can tell that although Jin and Shura are twins, their personalities are completely different. Shura, is kind, caring, level headed with a sense of warmth. Whereas, Jin, he is rude, violent and dare I say a jerk. Shura is the calm, while Jin is the Storm, so to speak. Although they both have different personalities, they complete one another, they always have eachother’s backs. At the beginning of the story I instantly grew fond of the characters, and the more I read, the more I understood why they would act the way they did in certain situations. I did not want to put the book down, each page kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting more, and wanting to know the fates of these characters. The author did a breathtaking job overall, but I was really impressed with the fight/action scenes, the author did an amazing job when showing and not telling what is happening when the characters are in a fight. The world building was one of the finest that I’ve ever encounter. I could tell that the author put his passion and heart into creating Shadow Bane. I am truly happy that I could read Shadow Bane, I cannot wait for the second book!

**Bonus, at the end of the book there was a list of characters, terms, places, and Demons & Divine Beings. I love when books have notes at the end to help the reader keep track of characters etc.**
