About The Book

Derek Worthington has neglected the personal relationships to those closest to him and compromised his morals to gain wealth and power. After surviving a brain aneurysm, Derek begins to have vivid recurring visions of a group of somewhat familiar people from a different place in time. He tries to pass them off as mere dreams, but the constant visions intrude relentlessly into his daily life. After undergoing a past life regression, he gains total recall of his past life as Charles Richardson, a poor Black man who died in the 1940s. As Derek digs deeper into his life as Charles, he discovers unexpected connections that threaten to disrupt all he has known.

My Review

This was such a beautiful book. It’s a wonderful story of redemption, second chances, love, and really figuring out what life is all about. The author does a wonderful job at pulling at your emotions throughout the book. From disliking Derek, to questioning him, to liking him – you really get it all.

The premise used for these tropes was really something different and refreshing – tapping into a past life. The flashbacks were perfect. They really helped contrast the man who Derek was in the past to the man that he is currently. And it is in those flashbacks we see who Derek really is on the inside, and who he want to be going forward.

Ugh, and that moment when all that was said was “Charles” – no matter what, in your heart, you just never forget. The ending was also very beautiful. Derek and his wife coming back together, the theme of forgiveness, it just really tugs at the heart strings.

I will be recommending this book to everyone!
