Payback is the third and final novel in Kriston Simmons’ Vale Hall trilogy – a series about big cons, bigger risks, and the rare opportunity to set things right. Bryan Hilder got the opportunity of a lifetime when offered to join an exclusive school. One that appreciated her talents for conning people.
Unfortunately, she quickly learned that nothing can be trusted at face value. Especially not a school designed to raise young con artists. Now Brynn and her few treasured friends are going to stop Dr. David Odin, and in the process free themselves from the debt they’ve incurred. While setting things right, if everything goes to plan.
As with the first two novels in this series, Payback was a fun and thrilling read from the very first page, right up until the end. It’s crazy thinking about how massive the stakes have gotten, and over a relatively short period of time.
Yet all of that explains why it is so easy to get emotionally invested in Brynn’s story. Not to mention the story of all the secondary characters. This conclusion brought with it a veritable ton of surprises, making an ending that is nearly impossible to predict.
In a way, I’m sad to see this series end. But then I think about how this is absolutely the ending this trilogy needed, and find myself content. For all those potential fans out there, Vale Hall has been a surprising and fun read, well worth the time spent reading. So go give it a try!
