I have recently gotten into listening to audiobooks on the Libby app. It’s so nice to have books to listen to on my commute to work or while doing housework. This audiobook was just great! I enjoyed the multiple narrators and listening to English accents. I feel this really helped bring the book to life.

Synopsis:

Laurie fell head over heels for a man she seeing sitting at a bus stop, it was truly love at first sight. Unfortunately, the bus is too crowded for Laurie to get off in time to meet him. She spends the next year of her life searching everywhere for her mystery man. Finally, she meets him but not how she had hoped. Laurie’s roommate Sarah introduces her to her new boyfriend, Jack, and Laurie immediately recognizes him. Laurie doesn’t have the heart to tell Sarah that Jack is busboy and decides she will just move on. Could it really be that easy though?

My review:

I think part of my love for this book is due to the narration. Honestly, I don’t know that I would have enjoyed it as much if I were just reading it. I have never listened to an audiobook with multiple narrators before. It was easier for me to follow along due to the different voices.

Speaking of the characters they are just lovely. The dialogue is so realistic. Therefore I really had the sense that I got to know these characters. The characters speak to each other the same way I interact with my friends! The relationships developed are truly heartwarming. However, Jack’s character was not enjoyable for me, Therefore I had a hard time getting into the book completely as I didn’t love the main love interest. His character was quite flawed. He came off as a player at multiple points throughout the book and seemed genuinely unappreciative of everything Laurie and Sarah did for him. He was also possessive over Laurie and tried to ruin her relationships even though they weren’t together at that time.

The plot was what drove me to this book. I mean what would you do if your best friend was dating the love of your life? Can you really just turn the switch off from such intense emotions? These questions and more are all explored throughout this book. Do yourself a favor and listen to this audiobook ASAP.
