When the author asked if I wanted to read this book, I immediately said yes! Having read her other three books, I wanted to read this one. All of Mary’s books are intertwined stand-alones. So this one takes place before Love, Lilly. We meet Natalie when she is a student nurse, and in comes famous soccer star Matthew. He recognizes her immediately and calls her over. She freezes. He broke her heart in high school. He’s happy to see her and wants to talk. After they clear the air, the paparazzi catch them out. He asks Natalie to be his fake girlfriend to help clear up his image. But dating a celebrity isn’t everything, and it has its downfalls too. Will they finally really see each other?

From the very first chapter, this book is swoon worthy. Matthew is your classic cinnamon roll MMC that makes you heart melt. I’ve read many cinnamon roll MMCs, but I think Matthew is one of my favorites for just how much he wears his heart on his sleeve and just how much he was into Natalie, and for all the right reasons – even in high school.

I also enjoyed Natalie. I can understand her second guessing his intentions, especially in high school where people can be cruel. But I also really love how Natalie, and even Matthew, matured. Even though these two met in high school, and we do get a flashback, they no longer feel like they are in high school. For me personally, not many authors are successful at making that transition in a book.

So, if you’re into fake dating, second change, closed door, cinnamon roll MMC, and he falls first tropes, then check out this book TODAY!
