This is a little like a coming of age novel, but after the fact.  JoAnna is heading back to Mt. Moriah after her Aunt Doro has passed away.  Doro was like a Mother to her, raising her when her parents were killed in an accident.  And if that weren’t enough, JoAnna left home shortly after the death of her best friend Grace.  Wow, that is a lot to handle.  Am I right?

I like the layout of the book.  We start in the present and flip back to the past to give details of JoAnna’s life growing up and after she moved to Chicago.

I loved the characters and I could envision Mt. Moriah.  And while I have zero in common with JoAnna, I don’t think we could be any more opposite, I related with her and felt so much for everything in her life.

It is heart wrenching and also shows hope.  And I did not see where this one was going.  While it is not a twisty sort of book, it does hold a secret that is revealed at the end.

For anyone that wants a book that makes you think and feel, this is your book.
