Jenny is 77 years old and she loves to bake. Baking is her life, her comfort activity. She decides to apply for Britain Bakes, a baking TV show. But, Jenny also harbours a deep, dark secret which has been at the back of her mind for many years.

This a wonderful, cozy story. We watch Jenny struggle through being the oldest contestant on the baking show. We watch her struggle with her secret as the baking evokes painful memories. We watch the relationship between Jenny and Bernard, her ailing 82 year old husband. They love each other deeply, even after 60 years of marriage.

There are a few lessons to learn from Jenny. It’s never too late to pursue a dream. And, secrets must be shared to lighten the load on your heart.

The relationship between Jenny and Bernard is so special and heartwarming. And, the descriptions of Jenny’s baking make the reader’s mouth water. There are a couple of recipes included at the end of the book.

The only negative on my part is that there could have been one more chapter or an epilogue at the end. The ending left me wanting a little bit more. But, an excellent read!
