Oh, my goodness! If you were as enamored with the film Death to Smoochie as I was, you absolutely must delve into Mister Magic! I’m not kidding; it encapsulates the corrupt vibes of that movie and blends them with the paranormal horror reminiscent of IT. In other words, it’s utterly sensational.
Right from the beginning, you can sense that something is horrifically wrong. Val’s narrative has a slightly off-kilter quality, as though there’s a crucial piece missing (hint: it’s her memories – and more). As we delve deeper into her past, it becomes increasingly evident that there’s a pervasive wrongness surrounding Mister Magic and the Circle of Friends.
What I found truly captivating about this tale is its eerie and multifaceted nature. It could have easily revolved around the corruption within children’s television networks or been a chilling paranormal horror story. However, it manages to be both of those things and much more.
