Midnight Strikes was part of my OwlCrate’s March box. I’d had my eye on it for a hot minute, so I was thrilled to find it bundled with all the other monthly goodies! I love time travel and loops, so I was excited about it.

Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. Certain aspects of Midnight Strikes were gratifying! I adored the clever touch of beginning (most) chapters with the title “chapter one.” It may seem like a small detail, but it made me smile, you know?

However, my primary concern lies with the excessive repetition throughout the book. It felt as though we could have done away with half of the attempts or, at the very least, provided concise summaries of those repetitions. This would have streamlined the book and prevented it from dragging on unnecessarily.

Nevertheless, the book’s overall concept, atmosphere, and writing style captured my imagination. I found the beginning and ending to be particularly captivating. All things said and done, I can’t wait to see what Zeba Shahnaz will write next.
