About the Book:

People don’t just disappear without a trace…

Shelby Tebow is the first to go missing. Not long after, Meredith Dickey and her six-year-old daughter, Delilah, vanish just blocks away from where Shelby was last seen, striking fear into their once-peaceful community. Are these incidents connected? After an elusive search that yields more questions than answers, the case eventually goes cold.

Now, eleven years later, Delilah shockingly returns. Everyone wants to know what happened to her, but no one is prepared for what they’ll find…

In this smart and chilling thriller, master of suspense and New York Times bestselling author Mary Kubica takes domestic secrets to a whole new level, showing that some people will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried.

Tanya’s Review:

I may not be a thrill seeker in real life, but in my book world, I definitely am. Lately, many of the Thriller books have just been ‘meh’ for me. Local Woman Missing has reminded me what I love about Thrillers! It is the perfect Thriller read!

It begins with a bang! Right away, I was drawn in by what was happening to Shelby. Then the story quickly flips to a little girl who is being held captive and my heart broke wide open. I didn’t understand how the two stories would merge together until a bit later but no matter, it was interesting all the same.

All along I was riveted, figuring out ways to get back to reading as quickly as possible. Then came the end and I was DEVASTATED! In a totally good way but – devastated! It’s been days since I’ve finished the story and my mind continues to wander back to it. This is definitely a stand out read for me in 2021 and will be in my short list of favorite books of the year!

Cat’s Review:

🗡🗡🗡🗡

Local Woman Missing is a complex and disturbing tale of missing persons, betrayal, and secrets. This is a thriller that had it’s ups and downs to go along with a massive number of twists and surprises.

The novel is told through multiple perspectives, which helped to keep the tension going. There are events that happen in the past, and then the current events. Naturally, the revelations from the past tie into the present. That made some of the twists a bit easier to predict, but I didn’t mind that much at all.

The characters are where Local Woman Missing really shined, at least in my book. I really enjoyed Kate’s perspective, while Leo’s side of things worked hard to break my hard. It was just the right balance to keep me invested right up to the end!
