Leader, Not a Boss is a strategic insight into some of the wins and challenges of the management world. This reads partly as a professional development book and partly as a professional memoir. Babic shares a wealth of knowledge and examples from his impressive operations and leadership career journey.

Broken down into five impactful sections, the book is the perfect length to cover all of the key areas yet not feel repetitive, as sometimes books within the professional development genre do.

Throughout the book, Babic weaves examples from his own experiences to reiterate key points, in a memoir style format. (Changing the names of course.) These additions help to solidify the main points for the reader.

Overall, there is some excellent advice in the book, especially for newer leaders. One of the most impactful sections for me personally, was the one on motivating and retaining your employees. It is important to make sure the employees feel supported yet challenged to continue developing their career. Career development is one of the most key things a company can offer. I am glad to see that being a key point in the book.

Thank you to the author for providing a reviewer’s copy to The Book Review Crew for our honest opinion. All thoughts are my own.
