“Trauma changes you. Losing a loved one to violence provokes a response. There are two common responses: either they don’t want anyone to ever hurt like they do, or they want everyone to hurt like they do.”

WHYYYY did I want SO long to read this author? After both experiencing loss and the hands of monsters, Wendy and Amanda make a pact, if you kill for me, I’ll kill for you. In another part of the city, Ruth is home alone for the evening when her husband Scott goes out. She’s awoken by the sound of glass breaking. Thinking it was Scott, she heads downstairs. She’s then attacked to almost death by a man with piercing blue eyes who is never caught.

This book is SO good and nothing like I have ever read before. The brilliance of this author’s mind is absolutely amazing. This author has such a way with words. They pull you in, they keep you thinking, and honestly, before I knew it, I had read over a 100 pages! I was so engrossed with the book that I didn’t even realize I had read that much.

One of the greatest aspects of this book is that all of the characters are believable until the author reveals when some of them are not. I felt like I was side swiped because I really didn’t see anything coming. The amount of times I gasped, or my jaw hit the floor was unprecedented in a single book.

I absolutely loved the ending of this book. I didn’t see it ending this way (of course), but it was SUCH a satisfying ending. Like I said, I can’t believe that I haven’t read this author before, and I can’t wait to read this author’s future works, and already published books.
