Jólabókaflóðið or in English; the Christmas book flood, began in 1944 during World War II once Iceland had gained its independence from Denmark. Paper was one of the few things not rationed during the war, so Icelanders shared their love of books even more as other gifts were in short supply. During the festive season, gifts are opened on December 24th and by tradition, everyone immediately reads the books they have been given while enjoying chocolate.
The Book Review Crew has decided to incorporate this wonderful tradition but in a different way. On our socials we will be posting a new giveaway each week from September 6th – December 6th, you’ll have a chance at a book and some chocolate goodness just in time for Christmas. We will also be sharing some snippets about the books and the amazing authors that wrote them!
Here’s is a peek at 5 of the over 25 books in the giveaway:

This is a tradition that I can easily adapt too! Christmas should be much more simpler than it has turned into and giving a bibliophile a book always makes us happy.
