OwlCrate – A Box of Bookish Goodies
OwlCrate is one of many book boxes currently available for all the bibliophiles of the world. OwlCrate’s focus is on Young Adult, and each monthly box includes a new young adult book and several bookish goodies. Included in the goodies will always be a pin.
Best of all (for those collectors out there) each month has a special theme for the entire box.
January’s theme for Owlcrate was From Olympus with Love.

*In case it wasn’t obvious, don’t look too closely at the rest of this post, if you’re hoping to avoid spoilers!
Book – January’s OwlCrate book is a highly anticipated new release. Actually, that’s a bit of an understatement, as OwlCrate was not the only box to cover this book this month! Lore, by Alexandra Bracken, throws readers back into a world of Greek Mythology in a twisting read full of love, battles, and redemption. Honestly, I don’t normally find myself saying this – but I think the original all-white cover might win in terms of how striking it is, though I’m not going to complain about getting my hands on this beauty. – Click HERE to read a buddy review by Cat and Allyson!
Bookish Goodies – As you probably already guessed by now, all of the items in this month’s OwlCrate box have a Greek or mythological spin. It’s also worth noting that this box is huge – as in, there really was much room for the typical paper fillers. First, there’s the obvious pin included, which is elegant and quite pretty.
Nectar of the Gods Tea – Yes, that is the actual flavor of the tea, blended by Riddle’s Tea Shoppe (not the first time this company has worked with OwlCrate, and I’ve come to really enjoy their blends!). It does come with a warning that there’s no guarantee that you’ll get any powers after drinking this tea, sorry guys.
Felt Letter Board – Yes! One of the larger items in this month’s box was a felt letter board kit, along with a lovely (and thematic) pouch to hold all of said letters. The timing on this item could not have been better, as I had been contemplating buying one in the near future as it was. Did OwlCrate just read my mind?
Pin Banner – When I heard that there was going to be a fabric item in January’s box, I kind of assumed it would be a pin banner – which is great since all of us collectors seriously could use another banner (or ten!). I love how elegant this banner looks, and will be putting it aside for my absolute favorite pins.
Lunar Tapestry – The other larger item for this month’s box is a Lunar Calendar Tapestry. It’s large, and it’s stunning. It contains all of the information you could possibly need about all of the moon phases for 2021. Also, bonus points for the stylistic choices, and how seamlessly it carries over the theme of the box.
Bookmark – Last, but certainly not least, there’s a double-sided wooden bookmark to be found within this box. Honestly, I sincerely believe that this may just be my favorite OC bookmark so far. Not only is it striking, but it’s inspired by one of my favorite novels (Circe/Song of Achilles).
Next up is February’s theme: Magic Unleashed! The first hint is probably enough to get most collectors freaking out, as it reveals that there will be a book tin in next month’s box! Better yet, OC has announced that this tin will be the first of four, all centered around V.E. Schwab’s Shades of Magic series. Can I just say that I am all for this set? Time to start counting down the days for the arrival of the February box!
