This story was a little disappointing as it has such a festive vibe to it with the title and cover but it isn’t a holiday read at all. It just so happens to be the end of December as Julie is hiding out in a rental cottage the real estate office she works for takes care of.  When the owner of the house dies and his nephew comes calling Tillie has to hide in the attic.

I had a couple of issues with this story. I don’t believe anyone with a job and family like Tillie’s would have to do this. A judge isn’t going to give an ex-husband the entire house she paid for without some sort of compensation. Tillie wouldn’t stay at a rental place of her place of employment and not ask for help from friends and family.  Even if she had to sleep on the floor for two weeks in the midterm. The insta-love after both of them just got out of a relationship (in fact he is still in a relationship even though it is a bad one) didn’t work for me either. This was just a flop all around. I have never read this author before and now I know why.

I’m not entirely sure what Amazon short story collection this is from. If you know please let me know in the comments.
