I absolutely love this movie. It’s one of my favorite movies ever. It’s so good. So naturally when the I saw the book come out, I got super excited and knew I had to read it ASAP. There’s two books in this one actually, the novelization of the movie and the sequel. The novelization of the first one was really good, the author took certain liberties and added a few details and I think they did a wonderful job. Reading the extra details really expanded on the story I feel like and added just a little bit of extra ‘oomph’.
I was not that impressed with the sequel though. The sequel settles around Poppy, Max and Allison’s daughter. The sequel is about Poppy, her best friend Travis, and her crush Isabella. Poppy does not believe that her parents and aunt fought the Sanderson sisters 25 years before. So naturally, through certain circumstances, they unknowingly bring the witches back from the dead again. So now they have to find a way to send them back.
The sequel starts off strong with Poppy and her friends, but then it loses steam about halfway through. Don’t get me wrong, it is still good and something I would recommend to others, it just could’ve been a tad, bit better. The one thing that I love about this book though, is that the author expands on the Sanderson sisters and their history in a clever way.
Of course, if you’re as big of a fan of the movie as I am, then you have to read this book. Just for the nostalgia alone and to learn more about the Sanderson sisters and their history. Check it out!
