It has been such a long time since I read a thriller novel that delivered on every single promise and expectation created. Goodnight Beautiful kept me on the edge of my seat – throwing twists and turns that I never could have expected, yet they made complete sense with the story being woven.
Goodnight Beautiful follows Sam Satler and Annie Potter – two very happy newlyweds. They’ve set out to a sleepy town in New York to start over, Sam with the hopes of starting up a nice small-town therapy office. Only, things aren’t going to plan.
Normally I’d describe a book a little bit more than that, but trust me here; going into Goodnight Beautiful knowing as little as possible is the best thing possible. You don’t want to risk a single spoiler for this thriller (or any thriller, for that matter).
I honestly cannot gush enough about Goodnight Beautiful, which ironically leaves me more than a little bit surprised. While the reviews on Goodreads make it appear like a pretty run of the mill thriller, I personally was blown away by each and every page of the novel.
Molloy’s writing is captivating, and more importantly, her ability to tie events and revelations together is beyond compare. This is a novel that made an active effort to subvert all of my assumptions, resulting in an extremely refreshing read.
This was my first time reading any novel written by Aimee Molloy, but I am officially hooked! I fully intend on following her work from here on out.
