I really enjoyed this beautiful collection of poetry and prose! I always enjoy a book that delves into an author’s experiences within their city or state with a sense of poetic realism, and what better way to do that than with this collection of works.

Miller takes us on a journey through the highs and lows of Florida living through a realistic and tangible creative lens, also including a selection of Non-Florida poems as well. The collection is very well organized and easy to follow, broken down into sections. It is the perfect book length to read and savor, reading a piece or two a day to reflect, or even reading through all at once.

One thing that sets the book apart is the inclusion of various photography pieces to fit the theme and reflect the works throughout, evident from the cover. It really helps to place the reader in the author’s shoes, ties everything together nicely and further solidifies the expert storytelling within the poems.

“Home is a Memory” is my favorite piece in this collection.

Thank you to the author for providing a copy to The Book Review Crew for our honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The author has graciously offered to answer a short Q&A question for our readers. Please enjoy this bonus snippet of my conversation with him, and getting to know him better as an author.

Liberty: Which piece in this collection is your favorite, and why?

Glenn: My favorite piece is probably “Waterfront,” which speaks to the ironic nature of living in Florida: it’s paradise, but it’s disappearing more quickly with each new development. People know the increasing dangers of hurricanes, politics, and rising sea levels—we’re aware of overcrowdingyet this is still one of the fastest growing states. I don’t pretend to understand why this is, but I think the poem presents the complexities well.
