OwlCrate – A Box of Bookish Goodies

OwlCrate is one of many book boxes currently available for all the bibliophiles of the world. OwlCrate’s focus is on Young Adult, and each monthly box includes a new young adult book and several bookish goodies. Included in the goodies will always be a pin.

Best of all (for those collectors out there) each month has a special theme for the entire box.

February’s theme for Owlcrate was Magic Unleashed.

*In case it wasn’t obvious, don’t look too closely at the rest of this post, if you’re hoping to avoid spoilers!

Book – February’s OwlCrate book is, unsurprisingly a highly anticipated young adult new release – The Gilded Ones. Written by Namina Forna, this debut novel is marked as being perfect for fans of Children of Blood and Bone (a personal favorite), Black Panther, and Mulan. I was lucky enough to have already read this book, and I am absolutely in love with the extra detailing included on the dust jacket, as well as the embossing. – Check back on March 28th for Cat’s review!

Bookish Goodies – As always, there are a handful of delightful (in my opinion) bookish themed goodies in every month’s box. This month had one really hot ticket item, and also happens to be the highlight of the box. But more on that in a moment! As usual, there’s a lovely pin designed for this month’s book.

The Red London Book Tin – I might as well start with the big item I already teased about! This book tin is the first in a set of four that OwlCrate will be releasing this year. Each one will be about V. E. Schwab’s A Darker Shade of Magic series – cue the excitement. The tin itself is actually a bit bigger than I expected, and absolutely stunning. Fellow reviewer Allyson suggested using my tin to store all the bookmarks lying around, and that is exactly what I intend to do! Now to decide what I will do with the next three…

Daughter of Smoke and Bone Keychain – If you’re a fan of Daughter of Smoke and Bone, then you’re probably going to love the keychain that was included in this month’s box. It looks really nice and elegant, and I’m honestly not sure I can bring myself to ding it up by putting it alongside my keys. It will likely find a home next to all of my pins.

Self Care Items – There are a couple of self-care items that made their way into this month’s box, and it just seemed easier to group them together. The first is a hairbrush inspired by Star Daughter, which is actually quite thematically appropriate. There is also a tin of bath salts, created by The Soap Librarian. The scent is meant to be reminiscent of We Hunt the Flame.

Zipper Pouch – To go along with those self-care items is a cute zipper pouch. It pulls a quote from Legendborn, making this month one of the few times I both know and love all of the fandoms included! That’s exciting in its own right.

Next up is March’s theme: Of Witches & Wonder! Which is a theme I am all sorts of excited for. I’m going to be counting down the days until shipment for this one. Until then, the first hint has already been dropped: while I don’t know what the item will be, I know that it will be designed by Talia Skyles (@Saphiraas).
