Hello everyone, we wanted to start a fun little feature where on Fridays we share something that is near and dear to us, it might not necessarily be book related but it will be a cause, charity, small/local business, event etc. that one of our members is particularly excited about. Today for our first feature Friday we’re so grateful to have Allison sharing information about her charity, the DLG Foundation and the fall fundraiser event that is happening this weekend.
Hi Friends,
2,098 days ago we lost a great guy. A smart, handsome, generous, funny guy.
I’ve created the DLG Foundation with a simple mission, to keep the unconditional love and beautiful spirit of our beloved Jason alive.
Each fall, we hold a fundraiser to help those in need over the holiday season. Part of our in-person event is a Toy Drive, where guests bring new, unwrapped toys to donate to the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation (POTCF).
Unfortunately, we can’t gather in person this year, due to Covid. I am – of course – very disappointed, but the show must go on.
And, because pediatric cancer doesn’t stop for a pandemic, and because there are kids out there who will be spending the holidays in and out of hospitals for treatments, the DLG Foundation has decided we will still hold a fall fundraiser- it will just look a bit different this year.
We are asking for your help to raise money for the POTCF through a one day online fundraiser on Saturday, November 21st.
November 21st would’ve been Jay’s 47th birthday. (My amazing Scorpio 😉) What better way to honor our favorite DLG than by supporting a great cause?
The POTCF is a not-for-profit organization that provides comfort and distraction from painful procedures to children and teens undergoing treatment for cancer. They provide a toy, gift or gift card from a treasure chest/cabinet. The organization currently serves more than 14,400 children and teens monthly in 60 Children’s Cancer Treatment Centers across the nation.
14,400 children.
Per month.

Month.
The POTCF is dedicated to supporting pediatric cancer patients and their families by fully and continuously stocking a decorated treasure chest and large cabinet located in outpatient areas within cancer treatment centers.
Founder Colleen Kiesel has been running this Foundation for over 20 years, after her 7 year old son was diagnosed with leukemia in 1996. (He has since made a full recovery!!)
Please plan on joining us to help the POTCF continue their mission of helping kids with cancer.
You can use this link: www.treasurechest.org/donations to log on and make a safe, secure donation.
Make sure to note the DLG Foundation Fall Fundraiser in the “in honor of” box. Every donation gets entered into a raffle to win one of two $100 Visa gift cards!
You can see the event on Facebook and reach out to Allison here.
Thank you for helping us help others this holiday season!
