This book was such a delight to read. So, refreshing after what I usually read. I loved the concept of a poker group that studies scripture. I feel like the verses mentioned throughout the book were well thought of and related to the situations throughout the book. This gave me a “When Calls the Heart” with a Christian theme to it. Not just wholesome. The flirtatious banter between Erin and Ben was appropriate for the times it was written in. This definitely had a ‘When Calls the Heart’ for a first book in the Bachelor’s Club series. It was not too tick of a book, so it was quite a fast read. At most a two-day read if you’re busy. I loved how the female man character had gumption, yet still had the reserved shyness to be feminine for the times. This is definitely appropriate for an adolescent girl to read. Unlike books like ‘Shatter Me’ which distorts a teenager’s perception of love, this is innocent and the male main character shows honor, courage, and determination. The cover was lacking though, there could be more than just the silhouette.
