Lexington Hall is Hollywood’s golden boy. He shows up in a small town public high school. Every one seems starry eyed over him, but not Stevie. After they meet via car accident, they are starring together in their high school musical of Moulin Rouge. Then something ignites between them, or so Stevie thought. After a tragic night, Lex leaves. Four years later, Lex is using their story for a television show and with an offer. With everyone wanting to know how the real Stevie is, a fake dating arrangement is made. Feelings blur the lines and walls are difficult to break down. Lex may not be who Stevie thinks he really is, and he could break her heart… again.

I’ve been wanting to give this author a try, so this is my first book by Hartmann, but it definitely will not be the last. I devoured this book. My heart was fully in it. All of the ups and the downs that Stevie felt, I felt right along side of her. I really loved Stevie’s character. She was so giving but also so unapologetically who she was. At times, it made her hurt and bruise easily, but I still wouldn’t change anything about her.

I equally really loved Lex. Yes, at times he was really hard and difficult. He could be cold and closed off. But once we learn about him and about why he is the way he is, you love him. You love that he’s found a way to be strong, but that at the same time he’s also really vulnerable. That with the right person, he can open up. That eventually, his eyes opened. He wanted nothing more than to protect Stevie, and all of his choices and actions were done with that in mind, even if they weren’t the “right” ones. He really is a good guy at heart.

There is a lot of healing in this book, and it’s really beautiful. These two characters help each other heal, they grew each separately and also together. They were opposites, but complemented each other. They tension, the chemistry, it was perfect.

Hartmann has sold me with just one book. I can’t wait to read her others.
