Wow. There is one twist in this book that you won’t see coming! Mari is a writer who lost her mojo, so to speak. There was a shooting that changed her life and now she can’t seem to write. She also seems to be self-medicating with alcohol. Then an email comes in from a producer interested in turning previous books into a movie! While a little skeptical, she agrees to meet him. What she learned is that he’s her number one fan, and he has something more sinister in mind. Now, she must gather the strength to break free.
This book felt different. Not different in a bad way by any means, but different in that I felt Modglin in this book. I don’t know this for certain, but it felt that she put a lot of herself into the book that it could have been her as the main character.
As always, this was very suspenseful. Just when I thought I was going to be able to breathe, there was a wrench in the plan, and I couldn’t take that breath I needed! But this book brings to light one of the downsides of the internet and social media. Our information is out there for anyone to find if they look hard enough. Then they not only have our info, but they can use it against us.
And of course, the twist. The twist that made me gasp. A twist that you will NEVER see coming. As if I needed to say it another way, I was shocked. And then more was revealed. Modglin made it all come together so seamlessly.
A great, quick read for any thriller fan!
