OwlCrate – A Box of Bookish Goodies

OwlCrate is one of many book boxes currently available for all the bibliophiles of the world. OwlCrate’s focus is on Young Adult, and each monthly box includes a new young adult book and several bookish goodies. Included in the goodies will always be a pin.

Best of all (for those collectors out there) each month has a special theme for the entire box.

December’s theme for OwlCrate was Love is a Battlefield.

*In case it wasn’t obvious, don’t look too closely at the rest of this post, if you’re hoping to avoid spoilers!

Book – December’s OwlCrate book is actually a book that released a couple of months ago (some people love that, others hate it, so take that as you will) – These Violent Delights. Ironically, I already had a copy of the book (again, not a new release), but I was still delighted to have such a beautiful copy. The variation for the front of the dust jacket (something OwlCrate always does) is pretty minor this time around, but it is balanced out by other features (for me, at least). This version came with a stunning reverse dust jacket image, as well as a simple yet sophisticated embossing design on the cover itself. I love it, and thus have no problems getting a duplicate.

Bookish Goodies – The goodies in this month’s box seem to fit the theme (Love is a Battlefield), while also being appropriate for the incoming winter months as well. I guess they just know that readers want to snuggle in and get cozy with a book! As always, there was a pin in this box, and it is the perfect companion for These Violent Delights.

Leg Warmers – Here’s that winter item I teased about! They’re super cozy leg warmers, though I’ll admit that they probably aren’t one size fits all. They are kind of stretchy, and could easily be leg or arm warmers, depending on what you want. I love the knitted look, as well as the buttons that embellish the tops.

Ornament – Another seasonally appropriate item is this wooden ornament. This is my second wooden ornament from OwlCrate, and I continue to be both pleased and impressed with the results. This one looks nice and elegant – as it should since it is inspired by The Wrath and the Dawn.

Hand Cream – Another item that is perfect for winter is hand cream – readers know the pain of trying to turn a page with overly dry hands! The scent is listed as ‘wintry woods’, which is actually pretty on point. The scent is on the subtler side, but given that this is a hand cream we’re talking about, that’s probably for the best (I might be biased here, however, as I have an overly strong sense of smell, and thus dislike harsh or strong scents).

Puzzle – Yes! That’s right, there’s a puzzle to be found in this month’s box. It’s inspired by An Ember in the Ashes, so it’s perfect for those fans out there. This is far from being an easy puzzle, let me tell you. The darker colors will be any puzzler busy for hours, as they sort out what goes where.

Rolling Pin – Yeah, you really did read that right. There’s a rolling pin in a book box! Though it is admittedly smaller than whatever you’re probably picturing right now. It’s about the size of your hand and is meant to leave a light impression on your cookies. It’s adorable, though I haven’t tried it yet, and thus can’t speak to how well it works. Adding that to my to-do list!

Next up is January’s theme: From Olympus With Love! The first hint shows a double-sided wooden bookmark, which I can’t wait to see! Also, I know I’m not the only one out there who has already guessed which book will be included in this box!

Sharing is caring!

Glad you really loved all your items. I’ve gotten Owl Crate and Owl Crate Jr in the past, but it’s always hit or miss for me on its contents.

I can understand that! I’ve looked at other boxes, but thus far this one does seem to be the best fit for me. But we all have our own way to score what makes a box a success.
