I loved this book.

Seriously, I LOVED IT.  Pre- order it!  It comes out in April of 2022.

Not only is it a great story, complete with twists and turns, but it is so well written. While I would consider this a contemporary fiction story, there is also a bit of a thriller vibe to it.  A con- artist, a NYU student, the FBI and a LOT of manipulation.

Lori is a driven, eager college student who lands an internship at ELLE for the summer.  This is her dream come true.  While there, she connects with editor Cat Wolff and jumps on a roller coaster ride that quickly becomes out of control. Deciding to drop out of college, Lori begins ghost writing for Cat.  A series of events happen, which ultimately create an environment where Lori is completely dependent on Cat.

The secondary stories include an FBI Investigation headed by special agent Jenee Parker, a somewhat rogue character named Nikolai and a pretty sweet apartment situation at the Plaza Hotel in NYC.

(BTW, Susan Rigetti- if you;re reading this, I think Jenee could have her own series. Just a thought….)

The story kept me engaged throughout; the way the author writes it- in a series of FBI interviews, diary entries and articles- it was simply one of the best books I’ve read this year.

It is a struggle to say much more without giving anything away, as it is such a tightly wound ball of spectacular that once it cracks you get it all, right there, leaving you with a pretty breathless few minutes.

So:

  1. Read the book.
  2. Gasp like I did when you figure “it” out.
  3. Do not feel shame when you go back and re-read parts (because you will want to).

5 stars! Can’t wait for you all to read it!
