Lennon is a PICU nurse and sheās trying to save a beloved theater. Ruben is an attorney representing the person that is trying to buy the theater. To her, heās the devil. To him, sheās trouble, in the best of ways. They canāt get each other out of their heads, and soon they begin spending time together. Thereās more going on that meets the eye though, and it could ruin Rubenās career. Are they both willing to risk it?
Iāll be honest, when I first started the book, I wasnāt sure I was going to like it. It felt really repetitive, and after a single encounter Ruben was majorly obsessed with Lennon. I didnāt understand it and it just feel kind of icky to me. Iāve met someone and thought about them, sure. But, I didnāt all of a sudden feel like I was addicted to that person. Especially not at the ages that these characters were.
However, things slowed down to a regular pace after that and I really enjoyed the rest of the book. I was slightly afraid that everything was going to feel rushed, but I really liked that Ruben and Lennon took some time to get to know each other. They went on dates, they texted, they talked on the phone. If something interrupted their plans, they went with it. They didnāt rush into bed with each other (though, they did get there!).
Ruben turns out to be a cinnamon roll MMC underneath a tough exterior. Heās a cinnamon roll for Lennon and thatās the best kind. He made the decisions that were good for him and his future with her, and he didnāt think twice about it. I really wound up loving his character.
