Someone is killing mothers in the presence of their young sons. Madison Harper is on the case to figure out who is killing and why. What is the reason for the young boys being spared? Could the killer be a woman? As Madison and her new partner, Adams, continue their investigation, she realizes that the circumstances around these killings are like that of a serial killer her father was trying to catch. Did the killer follower her father? Madison is a single mom herself – is she in danger? Then, one of Madison’s close friends go missing, and now Madison is racing against time to find the killer.
It took me a little bit to get into the book. However, once the book got going, it really took off. I couldn’t figure out who the killer was, and I was on the edge of my seat trying to piece the clues and the evidence together. I didn’t see the end coming at all! That’s what makes a book really good.
I will say this: this book is the fifth book in the series. While it can be read as a standalone, there are references to the past books within. At times, I felt that I was missing out on some information. I wish the author would have put in a very brief synopsis of the reference’s circumstances, but this did not take away from the overall novel.
Definitely a 4-Star read!
