Murder: It’s All in Your Head
Someone has been getting away with murder for over 100 years in the small town of Hurston, Ohio. But the wrong person has been convicted of those murders every time. In 2018, Cassie Meadows is on her way to school when a bright flash comes out of nowhere, and she wakes in millionaire Randy Davis’s body with blood on her hands…the blood of Randy’s wife, who lies in a pool of crimson in the bathtub with her throat slit. Meanwhile, an old man everyone calls Jimmy Williams raves that he’s the real Randy Davis as he lives out his days in a ward for the criminally insane. In 1914, young Helen Hawkins is unloved and repetitively abused by her father, who is also the town’s pastor. Her only escape is in her dreams, where she wakes in others’ bodies, living other lives, but when her dreams turn out to be reality, the tables are turned on her father. In a story where no one is who they seem, how can Cassie, the latest victim accused of a murder she didn’t commit, end the cycle? Amazon | Goodreads
My Review
🔪🔪🔪🔪
If you are into Supernatural Thrillers then you must pick this one up! It’s so different than anything I have read before and I don’t get to say that too often.
The theme of this story is how the mistreatment of one can spell disaster for so many others. We see this time and time again. But in this unique tale, the one mistreated has a special ability to switch bodies with others. To literally put their mind and conscience into another person’s body. This opens up the possibility to do unspeakable acts while in the new body. Unspeakable acts that they will never be held accountable for. But what happens to the person’s mind that they switched with? The innocent victim that is stripped from their body? It’s crazy to think about!
I loved the uniqueness of this story. As often is the case, the abused becomes the abuser and this author does a great job of bringing the reader on a journey of emotions as the victim turns into the abuser. At first there is sorrow and pity for this character. Then sadness and disgust at the turning point. Then rage and the hope that someone can stop this new monster they have become. But this story isn’t just about this one character. This story revolves around several main characters, each with their own agendas.
I was a bit confused to start with as I didn’t understand how all the character stories (3 main stories) were going to come in line, but once I got it I was racing to read the next page and the next page in order to figure out what would happen and how this monster could be stopped!
I also did not predict the shocking ending which is always a big plus! This will be a story that stays with me for some time. Loved it!
